Fireworks, a starry sky, an American flag, and notes of music strung across it all, this Pony reminds us of the song that was originally sung by British military officers before the Revolutionary War to make fun of the ragtag farmers that made up the colonial army, whom they perceived as country bumpkins. When the “Yankees” defeated the British, however, they began singing it as a proud anthem to taunt their English foes. Today, “Yankee Doodle” is one of America’s most popular patriotic songs. Item# 4040981 - Artist: Lexie Palmore - Material: Stone Resin - Measures: 8.5"
The Trail of Painted Ponies, like its predecessor, the Cow Parade, are beautiful, often humorous, replicas of the original public art displays. The original Trail of Painted Ponies consisted of life-sized ponies, painted and decorated by top artists from across the country. They were displayed in public places throughout New Mexico, after which they were auctioned off with most of the proceeds going to youth, arts, social, cultural, animal and environmental non-profit organizations.
Westland Giftware has created these figurine replicas of the original Trail of Painted Ponies. The figurines are either resin or ceramic, and each is hand-numbered. The whimsical designs and beautiful craftsmanship make them an instant favorite for any collector or horse lover. Crystal Palace carries the full line of painted ponies, including special seasonal designs.
